Forever Frost Bitter Frost Volume 2 Kailin Gow Books

Warning: Mildly spoilery for those who haven't read the first book

So continues the story of Princess Breena and the two men after her heart, the werewolf Logan and Kian, the Winter Prince. Breena has gone and gotten herself involved in court politics, last seen trying to make a crucial decision that will determine the fate of her mother and Shasta, Kian's sister. This is where Forever Frost picks up, with the Summer Queen's intimidating gaze bearing down on our heroine as her mind races.

I totally adore this series, and I am really looking forward Beyond The Crystal River! There are way more pros to this book than cons (far less spelling/grammar mistakes than Bitter Frost!), but I would like to list the cons.

- I have a semi-extensive knowledge of faeries. I searched through my mental archives, leafed through books, even Googled. Kewpies? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a Kewpie a little doll? Perhaps the author meant Kelpie?

- Right near the end, Miss Gow accidentally mixes up and says something about Breena being bound to the Winter Court, when she obviously meant Summer. Not a big deal, just a little mistake that bothered me.

- Too fast paced. At times I felt as though I was watching a movie on fast forward. I really would have liked Breena's brief adventure in the Pixie castle to have lasted another few chapters. Perhaps she'll have more adventures there in future books. Also, the scene in the woods after "the escape"; it seemed a little like the author was rushed while writing it, and Shasta was being kind of childish for a princess.

- The faery names. Although at times beautiful, Foxflame, Redleaf, Dogspaw? Is this the Frost series or a novelization of a Tinkerbell movie? Used in moderation or exclusively for monarchs (like Foxflame and Redleaf), these names would be okay. But conjoining two words into something "magical" sounding for every faery just doesn't sound like the fey. Kian, Shasta, these names are unique and sound like they came right out of a mythozoology book. I'd like to see more names like that.

- Frank. Just...Frank.

- A few grammatical annoyances, nothing major.

Aside from these few things, this series is great so far. I only have a few more books to buy before I have the whole series, and then I will breeze through the rest of them like nobody's business!

Forever Frost Bitter Frost Volume 2 Kailin Gow Books Reviews

This second book is very good. Most of the time the first book is the best. I feel that this book is just a tad better. The storyline was a lot more complex. More issues to deal with at the same time. Everything comes together nicely in the end. It all flowed rather well. I could see the main characters growing through their trials. This book does compliment the first one but it takes on a life of it's own too. The author is a very descriptive writer. Her attention to detail adds to the overall vision of the reader. That fact gives you a greater understanding of the story. Along with the added creatures, I feel this is a very good Fairy Tale.
(3.5 stars)
I am delighted to say that Kailin Gow has stepped up her game and FOREVER FROST is a vast improvement over its predecessor, BITTER FROST. The slower stride to this second book, was of great service to this promising tale. The new pacing to the story makes for a more comfortable read and a more memorable one as well. I do still wish there was a bit more detail, to get a clearer look at the fairy world it self; the descriptions given are a bit too simplistic for my taste, still lacking depth. The characters continue to grow and develop acceptably. Some of the newer characters introduced are quite interesting. The Queen's are definitely brought to the for front. Breena is challenged to make some hard, very grown up decisions in love and life. We get to meet Bree's mother Raine and father the Summer King for the first time and get more incite into their past.

Again, the story is cut a bit short for my taste, but FOREVER FROST leaves us with a twist and a great set-up for the next book, SILVER FROST. Pleasantly pleased with the refinement in Gow's writing.. I'm looking forward to continuing in this fun series.
I am so hooked on this series!! I loved this book just as much as the 1st book. I loved reading more about the Characters from both the Winter and Summer Kingdoms. Shasta is such a great character, along with Rodney, the winter knights and the even the winter queen. It was fun to read the back story of Raine, Breena's mother. It was interesting how it was her choice to be banished to the mortal realm and how good of friends she is with the Winter Queen. Raine still cares about Frank Foxflame, the king of the Summer Kingdom for the fact that he is so kind and how he would do anything for his daughter and her mother, since he is still in love with her. I loved Logan and Kian even more in this book. I am now torn between who Breena should be with, they are both such amazing characters. Normally I don't get that torn between the two love interests, but I am now. I loved the winter kingdom ball such a great part!! The parts with Delano the Pixie King made my skin crawl yikes! Breena really grows even more in this book, and I know she will continue to be faced with hard choices that may not make everyone happy! I love how detail these books are when it comes to Feyland, to the clothes and even the characteristics of each character. I am so happy that the Summer Queen got her Just desserts in the end so shocking but she had it coming!!! There were other shocking and heart wrenching moments at the end of the book and I can't wait to read the next book!!!
Another amazing book more addicting than first I love that it went right off from where the last book began with no major dragons from the previous book it makes you want to read on through the entire story of Bree a girl that was dragged into an unknown world a fairies and she had no idea when she began her journey that she was half fairy in the beginning of the first book her and Kian have a long journey ahead of them to find out what Fate has to hold whether they we'll end up together or not bree long road ahead to figure out what kind of queen she's going to be for the summer Court and how she's going to end of the war between summer and winter can't wait to keep reading on in the series
Warning Mildly spoilery for those who haven't read the first book
