Me My Brothers Volume 1 Me and My Brothers Hari Tokeino Books
Me & My Brothers Volume 1 by Hari Tokeino is one of the best manga that I have ever bought. I got this in August and it has quickly become one of my most read manga out of my collection of over 100 manga. I can't wait to get volume 2. I discovered Me & My Brothers in the end of Fruits Basket Volume 16 where there's a preview of the first few pages of Me & My Brothers Volume 1. I read it and it peeked my interest. This is the first manga by Hari Tokeino and she did a great job. I'm really glad I got this. It is such a wonderful story and very well written. It's a very heartwarming and moving storying. I was squealing most of the time while I was reading it. (I'm a dork and I care not.) I cannot find a bad thing to say about this manga and I hope if you read thing that you can say the same thing too. This is worth every penny. As a quick note, at the end of the book is a preview of volume 17 of Fruits Basket.Tags : Amazon.com: Me & My Brothers Volume 1 (Me and My Brothers) (9781427800718): Hari Tokeino: Books,Hari Tokeino,Me & My Brothers Volume 1 (Me and My Brothers),TokyoPop,1427800715,Comics & Graphic Novels - Manga,Brothers;Fiction.,Cartoons and comics.,Family life;Fiction.,Brothers,Cartoons and comics,Children: Young Adult (Gr. 7-9),Comics & Graphic Novels Manga General,Family life,Fiction,Graphic Novels-Manga,Manga - General,YOUNG ADULT FICTION,Young Adult Fiction Comics & Graphic Novels Manga
Me My Brothers Volume 1 Me and My Brothers Hari Tokeino Books Reviews
As always, Me & My Brothers 7 was both hilarious and incredibly sweet. More tension and even some exposition!
However...
For some reason, Tokyopop upped the price a buck and SIGNIFICANTLY lowered the paper quality. This is on newsprint quality paper, if that. While I'm happy to have read the story, it was excellent, I'm severely disappointed in the quality of the book itself.
Just a warning so you won't be surprised as I was. Beautiful story makes it worth the buy, but I'd try to get it at a discount like here on .
I'm on the fence about this particular title because of the lack of imagination the author utilized when creating her characters. Given the timing of Ouran Host Club coming out, all of Sakura's half-brothers are practically the club members reincarnated into another storyline. Even Sakura's personality (not to mention facial expressions) seem to be an exact rip from Sakura Kinomoto (CLAMP's Card Captor Sakura series). The only one who received a slight personality change-up is the 'megane' brother, Takashi (the Kyoya Ohtori look-alike), whom I would assume Hari might think to be a little too evil to copy. Otherwise, no matter how many times the author re-introduces her characters (in every, freakin', chapter!) my mind still goes
Masashi = Tamaki
Takashi = Kyoya
Takeshi = Mori
Tsuyoshi = Hikaru (Kaoru gets dissed and dismissed I'm guessing, no Hunny in here either)
Nevertheless, despite all of it's blatantly obvious character-porting tendencies, the series still has it's own storyline that makes it (mildly) stand out. While it might not ever trump Ouran and CCS by comparison, it's a fun and heart-warming read as you meet Sakura and her brothers after everyone in the family of any parental bloodline to all of them have kicked the bucket. Each brother was adopted by a different member of extended family, so now that Sakura's grandmother is dead, they all find their way back to her to try and become one big happy family like it was when she was an infant.
Overall, I like the series, and I'll continue to read it because it still runs on its own plot line and the characters are fun to watch as they interact with their little "sister." The only thing that sort of kills it for me is that the author decides to rush and reveal all of her main plot twists into the first manga volume, leaving you wondering what's left to read about when volume two comes along.
I love the story and I love these characters, but I absolutely hate hate hate it when, at the beginning of each chapter the author repeats the same main plot points. I understand that this is something that is done when the chapters are spread out in magazines, but I really hate reading them over and over again in a manga. But I guess that's my personal preferences getting in the way.
I just finished reading volume 7 and it was such a great one. I fell in love with this series from the get go and it never failed to hook me. All the characters are lovable and adorable especially Masashi, the eldest of Sakura's four siblings and the object of Sakura's affection.
In this volume, we get to see Sakura struggling so hard in order to keep her feelings for Masashi in check and so not to make him notice, though in the previous volume, she was about to confess but then decided against it.
It would be nice to see how things will be from this point on as it seems Masashi is confused about his feelings for Sakura and is not sure whether it is brotherly love or something more.
I usually like siblings love manga titles and this one is another great addition to the titles I like. Can't wait for the next volume!
Another great volume of this great series. I really love this series and the characters add even more to my love.
In this volume, we get to see Makoto-chan, a kid who looks a lot like Masashi that all the brothers suspected poor Masashi to have an illegitimate child. It is true that Makoto looks a lot like Masashi but it was a huge misunderstanding and turned out to be their uncle's kid from his ex-lover.
Nothing much happened between Masashi and Sakura in this volume, which made me a bit disappointed but it was still cute seeing the two blush when looking at each other.
The better part is that a rival has entered the picture. It is Nana, Nene's twin brother. He challenged Masashi and whoever wins the race in the school sports day will get to have a date with Sakura. We will never know who will win until the last volume and hopefully it will be Masashi.
I am glad TOKYOPOP decided to continue publishing this series as I was a bit worried of them dropping it but it seems that there are many fans for it and it is selling well. I am so looking forward to see how it is going to end, though I will be sad to see it end.
I loved it. I have been reading the "Me and my Brothers" series for quite a while, so this is nothing short of awesome. I love this series and really anything TokyoPop related. Don't stop putting these books on !
It was in very good condition
